one bird, many tales...
Imagine if you fell down the proverbial rabbit hole and instead of a white rabbit greeting you, Crow showed up as your guide for the next 25 minutes. In an age that marries animal omens with quantum physics and everything in between, the digital video "artmentary" Crow Tales promises to transform the documentary experience.
Similar to basket weaving,the
stories and artwork featured in CT
are woven into a video collage.
Stories cut into one another, often overlapping
in the same manner as Canadian virtuoso Glenn Gould's
radio symphonies (documentaries).
While the intention is to preserve
culture to be passed down to the next generation
and beyond, Herlevi and the crew plan on revolutionizing the
usual talking-head approach to
documentary filmmaking. CT blends a
multi-dimensional shamanic structure,
often found within aboriginal cultures.
Viewers might feel as if they
entered a shamanic journey with Crow as
their guide. They will take
away a lesson about oneness.
"Crow Tales" was videotaped around the Puget Sound and features local storytellers. We recognize ethnic diversity while also recognizing the oneness of all. This project was videotaped with no budget and an all-volunteer crew. All royalty proceeds earned on the director author's behalf will be donated to the Seattle based Native American theatrical troupe, Red Eagle Soaring in order to preserve Native American culture and empower intertribal youth. In order to heal wounds, we need to recognize that we are one with everything and what we do to another, we do to ourselves.
This is not a new concept, but one with the power to heal Mother Earth and her inhabitants.
Let Crow be your guide and take the journey into the unknown.
